Supernatural detective Thomas Carnacki unravels the case of a violent haunting Cornish Downs. Originally written by William Hope Hodgson, this adaptation puts a brand new spin on the original king of Paranormal Investigators.
William Hope Hodgson was a British author in the early 20th century whose novels and short stories had him on a trajectory to be immortalized among contemporaries like Arthur Conan Doyle and Ian Fleming. He wrote from 1904 until 1916 and in that time produced 95 short stories, 6 finished novels, and numerous poems. He enlisted in the British Army at the outset of World War 1 and served as an artillery officer. He tragically lost his life on a volunteer mission as a forward observer during the Battle of the Somme in April 1918.
Many of Hogdson’s stories dealt with supernatural themes, but unlike other writers, at the time his tales were truly scary. Thomas Carnacki wasn’t the first ghost detective, but he was the first to take a scientific approach to the realm of the paranormal.
Hodgson published six Carnacki stories before his death.
- The Gateway of the Monster
- The House Among the Laurels
- The Whistling Room
- The Horse of the Invisible
- The Searcher of the End House
- The Thing Invisible
